Thanks for Visiting!

After nearly four decades in the classroom, I am still enthusiastic when it comes to creating meaningful and engaging experiences for kids, and I love to share. So Big Ideas for Little Scholars has been born. I know parents and teachers of advanced and gifted students need all the help they can get, so it’s my hope to provide links to all the resources I can to make your search for quality resources easier.

Although what we do in gifted education and for enrichment is so often multidisciplinary and project- or problem-based and constantly tweaked and adapted for our special students, those new to working with advanced students truly need a place to start. When new GT (GATE) teachers reached out to me, the best I could offer was a link to a previous class blog (sadly no longer available). At least it gave them an idea of some of the types of things happening in our district and in my classroom, but it didn’t begin to list all the resources and possibilities for thematic studies.

So, we’ll do our best here. This is not a typical blog or site. I just want to make resources more accessible and provide a platform for sharing how they might be used in lessons. If you are currently working with GT or advanced students, PLEASE CONSIDER SHARING what’s working for you in our Facebook group or by sending a MESSAGE if you have any questions or comments. If you are new to G/T, the video tour will help you see what’s here, and also check out this post about planning for the year
