These lessons are great options for push-in enrichment sessions. This page will be a work in progress as teachers in this community share their lessons and ideas.
Upper Elementary
- Logistics for Kids – ready-to-share lesson in a slide presentation. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the teacher prompts and notes under each slide). 3rd, 4th and 5th all love this!
- You’ve Got Game- Guess the Rules (Dotty Six is great with 3rd, 4th, and 5th)
- Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe – (4th and 5th) Byrdseed TV has a great lesson for this, but if you don’t have a subscription, here is a video you can use.
- The Fun Theory– includes ready-to-share slides with videos. You can introduce or review S.C.A.M.P.E.R. and then share the FUN THEORY. If time allows, have them try to think of a fun way to get kids to do a specific chore. (3rd loves SCAMPER)
- Thinking Outside the Box

1st – 2nd
- Off Limits Game – To play as a class, first explain the game and do a few rounds with students. Then, have one student stand at the front and face the class. Display the words by placing a card under a document camera or by writing them on the whiteboard. Students work alone or in pairs and raise their hands when they have a clue that does NOT use any TABOO words. A great vocabulary builder!
- Six-Hat Thinking – For whole group, display the slides in the presentation and stop at Slide 17. Have students suggest ideas before moving to the next slide (beginning with slide 18). If you ended up doing a second lesson with 2nd, you could do this one.
- PETS-Friendly lessons– depending on the time you have and your objectives, there are many lessons and activities on this page.
- Spot the Difference – a visual-spatial activity that is a big hit with this age
- Valentine Cryptograms – also found on Byrdseed TV here.
