Here is another math activity with constraints! Solving math riddles such as the one shown below requires some figuring, and creating this type of riddle can also be a sneaky way to reinforce number sense. In this activity, students write riddles like this one, but must use only words – no numbers allowed! The riddles look quite daunting when they’re completed!

This can serve as an enrichment activity or ongoing “anytime” challenge. I would display the student-created riddles around the room so that others can solve them as they have time.
