Go Figure! Kid-Created Math Riddles for Better Brain Training!

Here is another math activity with constraints! Solving math riddles such as the one shown below requires some figuring, and creating this type of riddle can also be a sneaky way to reinforce number sense. If your students are not familiar with how to solve this type of riddle, you can find a good explanation HERE.

In this activity, students write riddles like this one, but must use only words – no numbers allowed! The riddles look quite daunting when they’re completed!

NOTE: The answer to the riddle is 17.

This can serve as an enrichment activity or ongoing “anytime” challenge. I would display the student-created riddles around the room so that others can solve them as they have time.
