In celebration of the month of May, here is a virtual scavenger hunt that will take your students to unique destinations around the world. As they journey, students will collect what they need to solve a paired puzzle. The solution to the puzzle will provide them with a ticket number for their flight home.
Like The Grinch Who Stole a Christmas Star, this is intended for use as a fun end-of-the-year activity that will pique curiosity as students “fly” via Google Earth on a variety of excursions.
This global challenge is not designed to be a contest or race. I would use this as an exploring journey, an activity to get students thinking about a lot of different topics and ideas. They may even be inspired to create their own virtual scavenger hunts.
All students need is a device connected to the internet and these student pages. The presentation utilizes the web version of Google Earth, and pictures and diagrams explain all that students need to know about using the navigation tools and format, so they need no prior experience with Google Earth.
You can preview the slides HERE. Make your own copy to share with students HERE. The complete TEACHER GUIDE with ANSWERS have been sent to subscribers. If you are not a subscriber, you may request them HERE.
