YOU MADE IT!
It’s summer break in the U.S., and I know many are dealing with big changes next year. Whatever your circumstance, we know that what you need most right now is REST and RESTORATION. (I wrote about that HERE and reread it myself every May!)
When you’re ready to refresh, reboot, and get inspired, visit us in the Facebook group Here’s a rundown of what will be happening throughout the summer:
BOOK DISCUSSIONS
We haven’t done a book study in a couple of years, but this one- one hot off the press- excites me. I love all things John Spencer! So I invite you to join us in our Facebook group as we read his newest book, The Depth Advantage, beginning June 18th (but join in anytime throughout the summer!)
I’d also like to revisit our discussions of the books listed below. If you haven’t read these three, I highly recommend them for summer reading.
- Thinking Like a Lawyer – critical thinking across the disciplines- so good!
- Vintage Innovation – this one will always be relevant, and it’s great!
- Gifted Guild’s Guide to Depth and Complexity – for those who’ve not read it, it’s foundational!
SHARE and TELL DISCUSSIONS
Share and Tell conversations prompt us to reflect and share ideas, and they’re fun! Sometimes we go “deep” into philosophy, but often we just share! So, this summer, a new prompt will be posted weekly; Week 1 is shown here and the responses so far have been awesome!
Pop in to join in when you can! You’re sure to be inspired and encouraged! Leave a comment under the weekly post, and your name will “go in the hat” for a weekly prize drawing. With so many new members in the group, it should be fun.
TEACHER SHARES
Our group has a special focus, so posts are limited (read more here). However, I want to encourage members to submit posts, not just comments on others’ posts. So, submit a post about what has worked for you or how you’ve used resources in your classroom, and your name will be entered into a “grander” prize drawing. A few sentences and a photo or two shared in our group could truly help a teacher who is new to GATE or one who wants to try something but needs to be encouraged. Sharing is caring!
CLASS CONNECTIONS
I’m not sure what connections have been made, but I still love this idea! You can always find this pinned at the top of our FB group page! If anyone has made a connection through this group, please share about it!
